The real lesson from Battlestar Galactica wasn’t that old software is better. The lesson was that critical systems shouldn’t be on the network unnecessarily. Air-gapping is the actual defense. Nostalgia for a simpler, hack-proof digital past is an illusion created by disconnection.

The choice was never old versus new. It was connected versus isolated. If you assume outdated means impenetrable, you’re betting your survival on the hope that no one ever looks your way.
